The Planning - Give the Shared Toys a Second Life Dot Design

Dot Design, in collaboration with Taiwan Toy Library Association, launched the "Planning - Give the Shared Toys a Second Life” project to transform recycled plastic toys, which have an average lifespan of only six months and are eventually discarded at a rate of 80%, into new products with adorable appearances. For example, it introduced the much-anticipated "Tabouret cannelé," a seat in which 50% of its composition consists of recycled plastic toys and marine waste plastic. Dot Design is now planning to design a series of large household items
to not only increase the rate of material recycling but also ensure that 100% of them can re-enter the recycling system, allowing plastics to always be recyclable and reusable.

As global brands, such as Tetra Pak and Unilever, took note of the sustainable value embodied in the Tabouret cannelé, they began to discuss plans for collaboration. Dot Design did not disappoint, successfully producing various recycled PE versions of the Tabouret cannelé that were warmly and positively received both domestically
and internationally.

With the completion of multiple Tabouret cannelé productions, Dot Design became even more determined to continue their path of sustainable design. In the latter half of 2023, they launched two versions of another household item, the "Coral Chair”, which is made from recycled materials derived from toys and marine waste, ensuring the diverse utilization of plastics within the industry system. The chair can also be stacked to form large-scale urban shared seating, expanding its target audience, attracting even more attention and reflection.
