Taiwan is renowned for its cuisine. It is also one of the largest producers of food waste, discarding up to 3.84
million metric tons of food annually, equivalent to NT$400 billion. As the world's third-largest source of methane emissions, food waste poses a significant environmental hazard as a source of greenhouse gas.
Launched in April 2021, TastemeAPP is committed to "zero food waste" and aims to integrate online and offline
platforms to create a shared economy covering food, beverages, essentials, and clothing. Tasteme seeks to
address these challenges as well as enhance the efficiency of supply demand matchmaking between businesses and consumers.

Tasteme has extended its online app to offline operations. It is committed to seamlessly integrating and optimizing the user experience. Currently, it has attracted nearly a thousand establishments and 110,000 users, forming a circular ecosystem of "soon-to-expire good food" and "soon-to-expire good products."
Apart from reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 300 metric tons of CO2e and preventing 120,000 kilograms of food waste, equivalent to about 200,000 meals, it has notably contributed to the commercial, marketing, and branding values for participating businesses. Selling surplus food bags monthly through Tasteme can reduce kitchen waste by 80%. Moreover, reducing food loss rates implies increased profitability, allowing businesses to adjust their pricing or marketing strategies to further expand market share.
